The game is intended for two plyers, one taking each side, but is well suited for solitaire play. The German side represents the forces of the 4th Panzer Army, and the Soviet side represents the 1st Ukranian Front.. Object of the Game: The Soviet player will attempt to capture as many victory cities as he can while holding onto Kiev. The German player has to prevent this from happening, and try to recapture Kiev if the opportunity presents itself. Also, each player must try to inflict a maximum number of casualties on his opponent. The successful offensive of early Autumn 1943 found the Soviets with several bridgeheads over the Dnepr River. The largest of these, located north of Kiev, erupted on 3rd November as infantry and tank units of the 1st Ukrainian Front burst through the German line.
